Marcin Mokry returns with a new book of poetry.

"A book of poetry" – did we really say that?

Leafing through the pages of "Świergot," we find ourselves in increasingly unfamiliar places for experiencing parenthood: besieged Sarajevo, the meadows of Potočari, the streets of the Łódź Ghetto. Although this book is anti-war in its own way, the author does not undertake to describe these historical events but merely evokes them to experience their individuality in language. Life in historically critical situations, mere survival, if we are to believe Jean Luc Godard's intuition from "Je vous salue, Sarajevo," is a work of art.

Therefore, the poetics of exception, i.e., experiment, seems more appropriate to achieve this goal than ready-made, established poetic idioms. At the same time, Marcin Mokry practices radically old poetry, uses avant-garde means such as Tytus Czyżewski's "intermedial poem," and draws on concrete poetry. Fortunately, many of these linguistic phenomena are currently emerging from a hundred-year-old grave in Poland, thanks to the efforts of various communities and individuals.

Marcin Mokry, born January 10, 1980, in Gliwice, poet. He completed his philosophy studies at the University of Silesia (2006). Author of the experimental volume "czytanie. Pisma" (2017), which was awarded in the XXII Jacek Bierezin National Competition in Łódź and in the Złoty Środek Poezji National Literary Competition in Kutno (2018). A fragment of the poem "Świergot" was awarded in the V Tomek Pułka One Poem Tournament (2019). He performs various jobs in Poland and abroad to achieve a standard of living that will ensure health and well-being for him and his family.
